Summary

When trying to refresh or create embedded DB2 extracts in Tableau Cloud, the following error might occur:

"Tableau doesn't support extract refreshes for one or more data sources in your workbook"

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In either Tableau Desktop, or Tableau Cloud Web Authoring, connect to IBM DB2 using the native connector, and create an extract.
  2. Create one or more views, and publish the workbook.
  3. Navigate to the published workbook via the Explore tab, click on the three dots to the right of the workbook name, and select "Refresh Extracts Now".
  4. Go to the Jobs tab and see that the error has occurred.

Workaround

The issue can be worked around in either of the following ways:

  1. Use an extract that is published separately rather than one that is embedded in the workbook
  2. Refresh the extract via a copy in Tableau Desktop, and republish to Cloud after the refresh is complete.
