In Tableau Desktop, when we create a join (inner, left, or right) between a table from a Microsoft Access DB and a Spatial File using the MAKEPOINT function, we receive an error stating "The protocol is disconnected! Error Code: 38341B1E".

Steps to Reproduce

+Open Tableau Desktop

+Connect to MS Access and Spatial File

+Drag the tables from the Access file and the Spatial file to the Canvas.

+Create a join (inner, left, or right) between a table from a Microsoft Access DB and a Spatial File using the MAKEPOINT function

+Error is seen: "The protocol is disconnected! Error Code: 38341B1E"

Workaround

+Use versions of Tableau Desktop earlier than 2023.1.3..

+Launch Tableau Desktop's newer versions with the UseCostBasedFederation flag disabled

tableau.exe -DOverride=QueryPipeline_UseCostBasedFederation:off'
