Summary

When refreshing Virtual Connection Extract from Tableau Desktop or Web Authoring on Tableau Cloud, a "Bad Connection" error occurs after around 30 minutes and fails to finish Extract Refresh.

Error Details

In Tableau Cloud Web Authoring: --- Unknown error: TableauException Cancelled. (code=1) Unable to create extract --- In Tableau Desktop: --- Unable to complete action​ Bad Connection: Tableau could not connect to the data source. Error Code: 305B73A6 ---

Steps to Reproduce

Here is an example of the steps to create a virtual connection and reproducing the issue in Tableau Desktop:

1.Sign in to Tableau Cloud site

2.Create a virtual connection.

3.Save the virtual connection

4.Open Tableau Desktop and connect to the virtual connection

5.Set Extract in data source tab

6.Move to Sheet 1 and save a hyper file in your local machine

Workaround

Reducing the amount of data and shortens the extract refresh time to within 30 mins.
