Summary
Context filter in a view connected with published data sources is not respected when viewing full data (when using VizData Service).
Issue happens in Tableau Desktop and Server 2024.2.3 or later.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new workbook on Tableau Server’s Web UI.
- Choose “SuperStore Datasource” as the data source.
- Place [City] on the Rows shelf.
- Place [Orders (Count)] on the Text shelf in the Marks card.
- Add [Ship Mode] to the Filters card and select “First Class” as the filter value.
- Right-click on [Ship Mode: First Class] in the Filters card, then select “Add to Context.”
- Publish the workbook to Tableau Server.
- Open the view in the published workbook.
- Click “3" in the row for “Atlanta,” then choose “View Data.”
- Confirm that [Count of Orders] is 3 in the Summary (this is expected).
- Click [Orders] in the window, and note that “39” rows are populated as full data. (this is not expected)
Workaround
No good workaround. Remove from context in the filter card.
