Summary

When using connectors built with the WDC 3.0 SDK under Web Authoring, the error "Tableau Server (Version <version number>) encountered an error while working with this worksheet." will be presented. Network capture will show that a /vizql request containing "eps/static-server" returns a 503.

All connectors built using the WDC 3.0 SDK are affected. This includes the native, built-in connectors for "Amazon S3" and "Google Analytics 4".

Error Details

Tableau Server (Version ) encountered an error while working with this worksheet.

Steps to Reproduce

The following steps are an example for reproducing the issue:

1. Build Tableau Server with 3nodes.

2. In each node, place the taco file with the Web Data Connector 3.0 SDK in the directory explained in Use a connector built with the Web Data Connector 3.0 SDK

3. Restart Tableau Server

4. Sign in Tableau Server

5. Click "New" and "Workbook", then open a new workbook in Web Edit.

6. Click the tab "Connectors" in Connect to Data

7. Click the connector by the taco file and the error occurs.

Sometimes, the error doesn't occur. If repeated from creating the workbook after that, a certain probability of error will occur.

Workaround

There is no workaround.

The issue doesn't occur if there is only one node where gateway, vizqlserver, and vizportal are located, but this is an undesirable topology in many cases.
